Well, I was supposed to go for a run last night with my son, but he decided playing with his trike and Little Tikes pickup were more important.

Then he was trying to crawl under the pickup to work on it “Like Daddy”.

So I of course had to grab a jackstand so he could get under it to work, haha

He uses the empty watering can to fill the trucks gas tank (yes it has a gas tank door and fill) He also stored the “gas can” in the bed of the pickup so he could have extra gas. Maybe he was going Overlanding?

Tricycles are very hard to put on 1 jackstand, haha.

I'm so glad you got those pics. Those moments are priceless and worth so much more than a run. I'm addicted to my morning rides, but if my daughter is interested in doing something with Daddy, I'll happily abort and spend the time with her.

I always thought it looked like his Uncle’s Ranger (since been rolled/totaled) Probably helped they were both black. Some more shots of little truck, I’m just glad it’s not the standard cozy coupe

Yeah, well he rides with me on the run, he loves the jogging stroller, he likes to “go fast” and he likes when I run to the pond, he gets to see ducks, which he loves, and go over a bridge, which he’s psycho for haha.

It was good though, he had fun in the yard. If I aborted for every time he wanted to do something I’d never run though. He loves the stroller, but he’s definitely Daddy’s boy and always wants to do stuff with me not mom so nothing would ever get done! Haha

When I was replacing the brake caliper on my Milan (which snuck into these pics) he asked if he could borrow tools to work on his bike and toy lawn mower, I have him a wrench I wasn’t using and off he went wrenching away!

Sometimes my 9-year old daughter will go on a ride with me. I got her a decent bike for the purpose. It takes twice as long, and I definitely don’t get the same intense workout, but I don’t care. She loves to people-watch in the park as we go along, and she loves to punch it from behind and overtake Daddy. Do we dad’s ever win a race? I think not.

The watching was his problem on the little trike last night “ooo a bird!” turns handles sharply, falls over.

But it’s ok, I’ve actually pushed him through races before. He did his first 5k at 9 months old. Stroller is handy as hell, I’m really used to it now and it holds keys, water, phone, wallet so I don’t have it bouncing around in my pocket, no risk of losing them.

Yeah that’s gotta be the best way to put it.

Something’s scaring him in there at night, I don’t know what. We even added in a nightlight which he’s never had before. But he keeps saying “you have to protect me” to me and my wife. Won’t define what we’re protecting him from though....

Yep, hopefully. It’s been getting better.

We’re down to at worst 1 a night.

When it started up it was every hour. At that point I told him he was going got have to go into the crib and we’d take away his big boy bed. He wasn’t pleased about that idea haha.

Last time I was working on my Milan (brake caliper replacement) he asked to borrow a tool to work on his bigger bike and his toy lawn mower. I of course handed him a not in use wrench, and he went to work for about 15 minutes haha.

I think this is pretty normal, our little guy (4 this weekend!) does it once in awhile. We just talk it out - no there aren’t pirates in you closet, how would they get in there? Monsters aren’t real, either are ghosts.. Your room is safe, our house is safe, it’s mommy and daddy’s job to protect you, etc, etc..

yeah, the tough part is he won’t define what’s bugging him no matter how many times I ask. (he’s 3 in january btw, but crazy advanced in communication skills).

we also have a running thing (thanks monsters inc. lol) that if he sees a monster, he should ROAR at it to show he’s in charge, he does it all the time, of course joking around. I’ve never heard him roar in his room at night...must not be a monster.

I used to have that exact truck when I was little. I played with it until I literally couldnt fit in it anymore. Pretty sure I bent a wheel at some point. Man I miss that thing
